Imagine - You are calm and relaxed, feeling pampered and tranquil with balance and strength in your life. Caregiving can be stressful and rewarding. Family Caregivers are responsible for their physical, emotional, social and financial wellbeing. "Care-giving" requires "taking-care" with self respect, knowledge, a support network, mentors, and sanctuary.
Caring for a loved one can be one of the greatest challenges in one's life, requiring inner strength, knowledge, planning and help from others. In addition to providing daily care, managing a loved one's travel, medical, legal, financial, and social affairs requires time and effort. Article resources and caregiver forums are a great way to keep informed.
Family Caregivers need a community network of medical and social programs to help care for the caregiver and to aid in the care of their loved one. Minimize caregiver stress by utilizing the services of dietary care, assisted living, in-home care, nursing care, adult day care, respite, hospice, palliative care, geriatric services and support groups.
Caregiving is a part of life. Family Caregivers are vulnerable to physical, emotional, and financial mistreatment, and exploitation. Caregiving can be a challenge, but it should not cause hardship. We advocate for Caregiver Resource Centers, employment protection standards and a national Family Caregiver program to compensate for lost wages while caring for a loved one.
